Does anyone have experience with AVG antivirus? I was thinking of giving it a try, but wasn't sure how accessible it would be to use. I'm tired of Norton hogging up a lot of resource and slowing my pc down. Any input would be appreciated.

It works well enough, I use it.

I use and like AVG antivirus. When running a full system scan, though, I can't use the computer for anything else until it's finished. Otherwise, it behaves as I like such programs to behave. That is, I only hear from it when it has found something it doesn't like.

I heard AVG create their own viruses, and then create a fix just so people think the program is doing a good job. I personally wouldn’t trust it. I use to use it and I still got viruses coming through and I kept it up to date.

It is definitely accessible, but it doesn't catch as much as say, Norton, McCaffee, or, Freedom Internet Suite, and I've tried all of the above.

avg is a joke, you get what you pay for. I would recommend avast anti-virus from: http://www.avast.com/

Well, tell me how you really feel...

Since AVG hasn't gotten overwhelming support, then does anyone have an opinion on the Panda antivirus software package?

McAfee VirusScan is the best one out there. It doesn't slow down your comp like other anti-viruses apps do. Just go to www.ftpcrawler.net or www.torrentspy.com and download it from there.

Like I said before, or at least I think I did...I actually really like Freedom Internet Security. It includes it all in one little package, and it's accessible...I think the usual cost is like $300, but if your on Adelphia cable it's free for up to 3 computers in your house. I've never heard of Panda...It's a new one completely to me, but I'd be glad to check it out. *smile*

I use AVG and don't have a problem with it. When running a full scan it slows down your machine something aweful but it is very accessible, and once its installed it has got a lot of automation built in. But as someone else said you get what you pay for and so if you go for AVG you have to be aware it might not catch everything

Avast home edition has my vote. If the software likes your computer setup, the program will work better than norton Mcafee or avg ever will and who could dislike the daily spoken alert that their virus definitions have been updated and when you get adware or a virus it is an audible alert letting you know that it has found something wrong. Even though I have partial sight, that helps out a lot, and that is why I do not use my version of norton antivirus that I bought but my home dition of Avast. Try it, and you probably won't go back.
